The New Adventure Began

Back in April, I had no clue I would be able to retire, buy an RV of any type, finance a new truck and downsize to the lifestyle I envisioned when I started Biglifelittlehome. But all that changed as a long-running lawsuit settled favorably for me, and the VA granted me my disability rating. In less than a couple of weeks, I went from working the rest of my life to being able to retire! It was shocking, overwhelming, and amazing, all at the same time.

First I decided, based on the idea of living here on the ranch, that a truck and trailer would be the best choice. I found a Toyota Tundra 4-wheel drive with a tow package online. Traded in my Hyundai Accent and bought the truck.

Then I started searching for the perfect travel trailer. Nothing too big or small. The just-right size was the goal. And, less than a week later, I found the perfect one on Craigslist. It was gutted and redone by the owners so there is a galley kitchen, seating area, office set-up, full bathroom, and a bedroom with a queen bed, bedside tables, clothing storage, and a Roku TV. It sounds huge, right? But all of this is contained in 22 feet! I bought it 4 hours after looking it over. I knew I would never find anything I liked better.

I gave notice to my employer and landlord that I would be done with both on September 1st. And then the real work began. I'll cover that in the next entry. But here is a picture of Wicked enjoying his new (MY) bed the first morning we lived here full-time.
